The Voorburgse Rugby Club (VRC) is a young club, we were founded in 2015. The club focuses entirely on youth and has a mission to let everyone enjoy the rugby way of life, both competitively and recreationally.
Discipline, respect, integrity, camaraderie, pride, passion, and fun are core values in rugby. We pay a lot of attention to these rugby values, which are important for the children and also for the parents!
In September 2015, we started with teams for the age groups “Guppen” (4 – 5 years old) and “Turven” (6 – 7 years old). In the following years, the age groups and the number of members expanded significantly. Starting from the 2019 – 2020 season, we have teams for youth up to 17 years old.
In the 2024 – 2025 season our Juniors cluster with the Wassenaar Warriors under the name “The Hague Barbarians.” The Colts also play in a clusterteam. This season under the name “Barbarians” with Rugby Club Delft, the Wassenaar Warriors and the Dordtsche Rugby Club.
Location
As a newly established club, we led a “wandering” existence during our initial years. This came to an end in 2018 when we had the opportunity to temporarily create a rugby field and clubhouse at “De Star” in Leidschendam.
In the 2023 – 2024 season, we started training on our new field, at the Groene Zoom in Voorburg. With this, our long-cherished wish has finally come true: a permanent place with a beautiful new field in Voorburg, close to other sports clubs. The new clubhouse is not there yet, but hard work is being done to realize this in the foreseeable future.
